Kid's Funny Stories

January 09
Abby was telling me that her teacher was telling them how it is against the law for adults to hit kids.  I began to explained how the law was in place to protect those children who were really phyically abused by their parents.  But there are some bad children who didn't want to listen and obey their parents so in order to get them into trouble they made up some stories about their parents beating them.  Or, they would say to an adult that they will sue them and take them to court if they try to hit them. Abby reassured me that she would never take us to court.  At the dinner table I told the whole story to Daryl and told him that Abby said she would never take us to court so be reassured.  Abby then said "You still have 2 other kids, you know."

Abby told me she was invited to a birthday party.  I said O.K. Next day I asked her for the details of the birthday party and show me the invitation.  She told me she couldn't find her invitation.  Next day when I picked the kids up from school she gave me a card with all the invitation information on it.  She said she asked another friend in the class if she could copy her invitation.  Abby got a plain card and wrote out the whole invitation herself.  I began to tease her about her not really being invited.

Caleb had to clean his room.  We looked at his room later and found it to be pretty clean.  We found out that he actually paid Abby 3000cfa for cleaning his room.  That's over $6 and Abby didn't finish the job.  Caleb told her he would do the rest!!

December 08
Hannah asked as she was eating an eggroll why it is called an eggroll when there's no egg inside?

At Kribi (beach area), I gave Hannah a snack size bag of peanut butter M&M's.  We were on our way to the fresh water pool.  She was eating them as we were walking. When we got there, I asked her if she ate it all up or did she saved some for me.  She said "I saved you and daddy half."  I looked inside the bag and there was a 1/2 of "A" M&M.  I took it out and she said "Don't eat it all.  It's for you and daddy to share."  Lucky for me, Daryl said I can have the whole 1/2 "A" M&M.

We took Jedi to the beach with us.  As he was in the car he was moving a lot.  In the process of moving around he crushed a lot of Abby's stuff.  Abby discovered that Jedi messed up her hand fan that she just got for Christmas.  She started to cry.  Hannah said "Abby, you can have mine."

October 08
Abby asked if Mandi (collegue of Daryl's) if she wanted to go to church with us.  Mandi told her she doesn't understand French.  Abby said "that's okay, you can just bring something to draw, that's what I do."

July 08
Caleb gave the rest of his brocolli soup to Jedi (our lab).  He poured it into Jedi's dish bowl.  Seconds later Daryl noticed there were some brocolli soup spilled near Jedi's bowl.  Daryl called for Caleb and asked him how he could walk away from a spill and not clean it up.  Caleb replied "I thought Jedi can lick it up."

Kids are always amazed how I can know what they are doing when we are in the same room and my back is on them.  I told them I have eyes behind my back.  So to test me they kept on asking "ok mommy, what am I doing now?"

May 08
I was busy at home so I couldn't pick up the kids from school. Daryl said it wouldn't be a problem for him to pick them up.  As the time approached for them to be coming home I get a phone call from the school and they asked me what are they suppose to do with Hannah.  The dad picked up the other two but left Hannah at school still.  Hmmm, need I say more???!!!

Hannah has been sick for a few days.  She doesn't particularly like going to school.  It's her first year in the French school.  So when I tell her she doesn't have to go, she is happy about it.  I expained to Hannah that when I told her teacher that she was sick and that her teacher was sad to hear that, Hannah asked "for real?" I said yes.  Then Hannah asked "How sad?"  I replied, "very".  She then asked, "Like with water on cheek?"  I laughed and said "yes."

Caleb has a VERY loose tooth.  It's hanging literally by A root.  He was scared to pull it because the root was pretty thick.  I have been telling him for a couple of weeks now to just pull it out. Today I told him if he's not careful he's going to swallow it.  So as he was eating a pineapple he felt something crunch.  He didn't think anything of it and kept on eating.  Later on he realized that he had swallowed his tooth.  I told him now that's a safe place to keep it for the tooth fairy.  When Daryl came home he dug it out for Caleb from his you know what.  What goes in must come out.  I soaked that thing in bleach water for a while.  Hero daddy!!!

Since Caleb is so into Star Wars we decided to have a Star War Theme for his 7th birthday party.  I drew a Darth Vadar face for his invitation and he drew an x-wing fighter.  For his birthday cake I drew an x-wing fighter plane.  Caleb said to me, "mommy you draw a really good x-wing fighter plane.  :-)

September 07
We were coming home from school and we saw some people taking a picture of a papaya tree.  Abby said to me "Why are they taking a picture of that tree? They must be visiting from America."

May 07
Caleb wished me a Happy Mother's Day today.  Then he asked me, "when is children's day?"

The kids and I had a tea party.  I told Hannah that since she is the host of the tea party then she should ask her guest if they would like a cookie.  Her guests consisted of Abby, Caleb and I.  When she asked Caleb, Caleb grabbed 3 cookies and shoved about 2 cookies into his mouth.  Us girls were all shocked.  I laughed of course  After Caleb finished his last cookie and washed it all down with his tea he asked me if he can be excused to go play his computer game.  It is amazing to see the difference between a girl and a boy.

Abby got out of class and when I saw her she was crying.  Later on she told me how one of the boys in her class was mean to her.  The boy pulled a chair from under her and she fell flat on her bottom.  She was hurt, embarrassed and mad.  I told her boys sometimes do wierd things for attention.  I told her how her daddy embarrassed me when he gave me a plastic heart vase with a plastic rose inside in front of our mission team.  I was so embarrassed.  I told Abby I didn't want daddy's gift and that I was mad. The story brought a smile to her face.  It made her feel better.

April 07
Every time I help Hannah brush her teeth I've noticed that
somebody has been putting toothpaste on her toothbrush.  So I asked the kids who has been putting toothpaste on Hannah's toothbrush.  Caleb replied to me "maybe some really kind and nice person."  :-)  Hmmm I wonder who...

March 07
Abby said a kid at her school said the "S" word.  I stopped breathing for a second, wondering if she knew what the "S" word was.  I asked her what's the "S" word.  She said "you know, stupid".  I replied, "That's right".  Few days later Caleb reported to me that Abby said the "J" word.  "What's the J word?" I asked.  "Jerk".  Well, I'm glad they know their phonics.

Jan 07
Abby, Caleb and I were discussing whether dogs go to heaven.  I said I don't speak dog so I don't know if they accept Jesus's dying on the cross.  Caleb said God can speak anything.

I (Sun) told Hannah to go pee pee before nap time.  As she was on the toilet I asked her if she went. She said yes.  I told her if I see that she's not wet when I wipe her then that would mean she lied.  Hannah knows what would happen if she tells a lies.  So I said I'll ask you one more time, did you go pee pee? Hannah replied "maybe."

I found some of my folded laundry reassembled on the coffee table.  I asked Hannah is she did this and she replied "Not on purpose, accident"

Whenever I am mad at Hannah and she knows it she would say to me "mommy, you still love me?" How could I stay mad after hearing that???

Dec 06
Abby's tooth came out.  She put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy.  The tooth fairy didn't come. Abby was very sad and disappointed.  I told Abby that the tooth fairy must have been very busy and that we should try another night.  ***  Thankfully the tooth fairy came the next day  ***

They all put on their new pajamas that they got for Christmas.  Hannah got Sleeping Beauty.  Abby got Cinderella.  Caleb got The Incredibles.  Abby asked Hannah who was on her pajama and Hannah said Speeking Booties.

The roads were blocked because of the president traveling.  We couldn't go to church nor the French Club.  Caleb was having a bad attitude.  He asked if he can watch a movie.  I (Sun) said with your bad attitude, "no".  Caleb replied, "Fine, I'll change my attitude."

Abby & Caleb are involved in the church’s Christmas program.  Abby brought home the CD with the music to the song that she had to learn to sing.  The singer on the DVD was horrible....out of tune and all.  After it was done, Abby wanted to play it again.  Sun said that’s enough.  I told Daryl out loud, “what great music.”  Abby responded “You’re being sarcastic.”

Oct 06
Had an interesting conversation with Abby and Caleb on our way to school.  They asked if their babies were going to be Africans.  They thought since they live in Africa their babies will be Africans.

Caleb has been saying things like “I don’t love you mommy,” and “I don’t want you.”  I reminded him how when you say things that you don’t mean especially bad things to people you can hurt that person’s feelings.  He continued to say “I don’t want you to talk to me for a whole year.”  I reminded him once more.  He responded that he meant it.  So I stopped talking to him.  After 2 minutes of silence he said “I don’t want you to talk to me for a whole year starting tomorrow.”

Dec 05
We were in the car on our way home.  The kids got some balloons from the church.  As they were playing with their balloons, Caleb’s popped.  Caleb asked Abby in a soft, nice voice:  “Abby can you pop your balloon?”

Sept 05
Sun and the kids were talking about weddings, getting married and finding a husband and wife.  Abby asked if she can adopt a husband.

Feb 05
Daryl was telling the kids that he is the one that provides for them (food).  Then he corrected himself and said God provides for them.  Abby responded “God and Mommy.”

Jan 05
Daryl had given Caleb a spanking.  Caleb was so mad that he told Daryl “Daddy, you don’t get any breakfast!”  “Daddy, you don’t get any snack!”

We were driving in the car with all the kids going into town.  I was telling Daryl something as he was driving.  Then Daryl got frustrated with the way this person was driving on the road.  So he said “You’re an idiot, idiot.Caleb answered “Daddy don’t call Mommy an idiot”.

Dec 04
Abby was complaining that Caleb took back the car that he gave to her.  Daryl asked Caleb “Did you tell Abby she can keep the car forever and ever?”  Caleb answered “No, I said she can keep it for a long time.”

At the dining table we were talking about Heaven.  Daryl said there will be no more hurt.  We’ll have a new body.  We won’t have any boo boos.  Abby asked “I won’t get any more spankings?”

(Abby 4, Caleb 2, Hannah 8 months)
Driving to school Hannah was saying “aaaaaa”.  Abby & Caleb would say “aaaaa” back at Hannah.  This went on a few times.  Finally Daryl had enough and yelled back “that’s enough, no more”.  Abby responded “But Hannah started it.”  Daryl responded “No more”.  Hannah responded “aaaaaaa”.  Abby responded “ Hannah, daddy said no more.”
